  • Shift the question: Replace “How can I fix them?” with “How can I feel safer and healthier right now?”
  • Limit caretaking behaviors: Notice automatic rescue impulses and delay action by 24 hours—this creates space to choose.
  • Seek support: Therapy, coaching, or a trusted friend helps process the mirror without drowning in it.
  • Practice small rituals: Grounding breaths, a five-minute journal entry, or a short walk can steady you in the storm.
